Join us January 19-26, 2018 in the British Virgin Islands (BVI)!
We will be cruising on a Saba 50 sailing catamaran and helping some people with repairs to their homes and taking school supplies and gifts to the local children. This in addition to our itinerary which includes the best of the BVI! Sample Itinerary
As you know, the Virgin Islands have been extremely damaged by 2 CAT5 hurricanes, Irma and Maria. There is now a tremendous amount of relief and supplies already delivered or on the way. However, the recovery process takes a LONG time and will soon be yesterday’s news.
If you have ever experienced recovering from a hurricane or other natural disaster, you know that there cannot be enough help over the next 6 months to a year.
We are going to sail to Jost Van Dyke and help a few local families in any way we can – repair help and supplies (some that they are not getting , but needed) . The Jost Van Dyke Preservation Society is helping to identify some families who we can help.
You can pitch in as much as you want to. We will be anchored in Great Harbour and White Bay, Jost Van Dyke with snorkeling and going to beaches and local beach bars/restaurants (like to patronize them to help give them business and rebuild the tourism based economy.)
Suggest flying into St. Thomas (STT) and taking the ferry to Roadtown – the airport and ferries are in operation now. 1/19 – Boarding time is at 530PM at Hodges Creek Marina. We will disembark there by 10AM on 1/26
Provisions/beverages – we will discuss this with everyone before the cruise and plan on breakfasts/most lunches and, probably, half of the dinners on board – estimate $140-200/person for the week plus beverages.
There are 5 equal sized, spacious, air conditioned staterooms with a double bed and full head/shower.
Cost per stateroom is $3500, double occupancy
We need a 50% deposit ASAP and the balance due December 19. Here is the link to charge your deposit – https://shop.activecruising.com/products/january-19-26-2018-bvi-cruise-50-deposit
Have you been trying to figure out how to help the wonderful people of the Virgin Islands?
Sending money to the right charity is fantastic and needed, however being there and actually showing that you care and helping them will make a huge difference!
